The Riviera Theatre, Chicago

The Riviera Theatre is one of Chicago’s premier venues for concerts and is approximately two miles away from McKinley Family Chiropractic within Chicago, Illinois. Located in Chicago’s historic Uptown theater district at the intersection of Racine, Broadway, and Lawrence, the theatre has hosted concerts from a wide range of artists, including Jewel, Iron Maiden, Miley Cyrus, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers and puts on an average of 50 concerts per year. In addition to the Riviera, this area of Chicago is home to several notable theatres, including the Aragon Ballroom.

The historic Riviera Theatre was completed in 1917 by architects George and C.W. Rapp of the architectural firm Rapp & Rapp and was originally built as a movie theatre for the Balaban & Katz chain. An example of French Renaissance Revival architecture, it was the biggest and most elaborate movie theatre in the Uptown neighborhood for almost a decade, until the opening of the Uptown Theatre. In 1986, the theatre was transformed into a private nightclub; however, it is now one of Chicago’s leading concert and special event venues and is considered to be a central part of Chicago’s past and present.

The Riviera Theatre has been owned by Chicago-based Jam Productions since 2006, which claims to be the largest independent producer of live entertainment in the United States. In October of 2015, Jam Productions fired the stagehands of the theatre due to a labor dispute. However, the Riviera continues to remain a popular venue for both local and national acts.

I’ve been suffering from strong upper back and neck pain, stretching down the nerves in my arms, since working from home with the onset of the pandemic. Before coming to McKinley Family Chiropractic, I spent thousands of dollars on massages and PT, but the pain was persistent. I was also seeing a chiropractor out in the suburbs, but the commute made it difficult to schedule appointments with frequency, so I only scheduled appointments when the pain got too severe. I wish I started coming to McKinley family chiropractic sooner! Within the first two weeks of the regiment , I felt vast improvement. I no longer have nerve pain, the muscles in my neck were a lot less tense, and my posture improved immensely. They’ve also helped me work through ongoing knee pain that has improved my running form! Moreover, the staff is very kind. I’m always greeted by my first name when I walk in the door and I feel comfortable asking the team any question about pain in the body. Note that the process requires several initial visits (I scheduled appointments 2-3x/week for the 12 visits), but then the visit frequency scales back once I had noticeable improvement. The office does accommodate this by having flexible hours (open until 7pm certain evenings, Saturday morning appointments are always available) and having an efficient schedule ( I rarely stay in the office longer than 10 minutes). I really appreciate Dr. McKinley’s holistic approach to health and wellness and would recommend anyone experiencing pain to visit McKinley Family Chiropractic.

I’ve had such a great time at McKinley Family Chiropractic! The staff is so welcoming and makes you feel right at home even when you’re having problems with your back. I’ve been here with them for about a month and I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and business. With my job I have a different schedule every day and the staff is very accommodating to it, as they have flexible hours so it’s super easy for me to come from work. I recommend coming here if you are having trouble with your back as Dr. Ray and Dr. McKinley have taken very good care of me!
