Be Sure to Listen to Your Body
Listening to your body is one of the most important things you can do as a patient at a chiropractic office like McKinley Family Chiropractic. Over the course of around 8-12 weeks, we adjust you routinely, provide exercises to do at home, and reintroduce exercise into your daily life. Throughout this process, however, we have no idea what’s going on inside your body. The only person who knows what that feels like is you, and you’re now responsible for paying attention to what your body is telling you.
It is common through chiropractic care to become familiar with your body and how it feels. Most of you have come across this and talked to the doctors about it, but you are very aware of when you need adjustments and corrections. This is an incredible skill to have, especially as you move into your wellness phase of care when we don’t see you as much. During the acute phase of care, the consistency of adjustments takes away the pressure of listening to your body, but as you transition more towards weekly or bi-weekly adjustments, more attention is required to know when you could possibly need an extra adjustment. Listening to your body and its needs is very important for everyone as they graduate through care.
As you return to your daily routines and get back to the things you love, like exercise, gardening, being a parent, or working, this same attention to your body is required. Knowing when to back off, step back, get up, take a walk, or even sit down is important for your health’s prosperity. Believe us, it’s a hard trait to learn, but it is so helpful in the long run.
Mindfulness of how your body feels is a trait that will only magnify your wellness. The only person who knows exactly how you feel is you, so please make sure you’re paying attention to what YOU need.
