McFetridge Ice Rink, Chicago

The McFetridge Ice Rink is located at 3843 N. California Avenue and is just minutes away from McKinley Family Chiropractic in the Chicago, IL area. The ice rink is housed in the McFetridge Sports Center and is deemed to be the only indoor ice rink in the Chicago Park District. It has been offering the community a unique recreational facility since the 1970s and was named in honor of William McFetridge, who served as the Chicago Park District president in 1967 and subsequently served as vice-president for the next 22 years.

McFetridge Ice Rink History

The McFetridge Ice Rink features a regulation-size NHL surface and a half-sheet studio rink. The skating program offers instructional group classes for all levels ages 4 and up, freestyle ice, synchronized skating, a spring ice show, an annual ISI competition as well as a summer skating camp. The synchronized skating program at McFetridge Sports Center has over 30 years of tradition in this team sport that builds character, commitment, cooperation as well as skating skills and is home to the Chicago Skates Synchronized Skating Teams. Skating at McFetridge is founded upon fun and learning and each skater is excited to practice, work hard, and take pride in developing their skills. The program focuses on letting each skater learn how to be creative, confident, and work as a team toward a common goal. There are many opportunities for skaters to shine individually and also to support their fellow skaters.

Figure skaters and their coaches have designated practice time during freestyle ice. Skaters are required to be ISI Freestyle level 1 or higher or the USFS equivalent in order to participate in these sessions. Lower level skaters may also skate provided they are accompanied by a private coach, but no matter what your skating level, there is something for everyone at the McFetridge Ice Rink.

I’ve been suffering from strong upper back and neck pain, stretching down the nerves in my arms, since working from home with the onset of the pandemic. Before coming to McKinley Family Chiropractic, I spent thousands of dollars on massages and PT, but the pain was persistent. I was also seeing a chiropractor out in the suburbs, but the commute made it difficult to schedule appointments with frequency, so I only scheduled appointments when the pain got too severe. I wish I started coming to McKinley family chiropractic sooner! Within the first two weeks of the regiment , I felt vast improvement. I no longer have nerve pain, the muscles in my neck were a lot less tense, and my posture improved immensely. They’ve also helped me work through ongoing knee pain that has improved my running form! Moreover, the staff is very kind. I’m always greeted by my first name when I walk in the door and I feel comfortable asking the team any question about pain in the body. Note that the process requires several initial visits (I scheduled appointments 2-3x/week for the 12 visits), but then the visit frequency scales back once I had noticeable improvement. The office does accommodate this by having flexible hours (open until 7pm certain evenings, Saturday morning appointments are always available) and having an efficient schedule ( I rarely stay in the office longer than 10 minutes). I really appreciate Dr. McKinley’s holistic approach to health and wellness and would recommend anyone experiencing pain to visit McKinley Family Chiropractic.

I’ve had such a great time at McKinley Family Chiropractic! The staff is so welcoming and makes you feel right at home even when you’re having problems with your back. I’ve been here with them for about a month and I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and business. With my job I have a different schedule every day and the staff is very accommodating to it, as they have flexible hours so it’s super easy for me to come from work. I recommend coming here if you are having trouble with your back as Dr. Ray and Dr. McKinley have taken very good care of me!
