I hope everyone is having a great week, and that our Chicago residents are staying dry! For this weeks blog we’ll be talking about “Keeping Your Edge”. It’s something that’s very important yet not many people do the proper things to help keep the edge.

So, what do we refer to when we say “keeping your edge”? It’s the premise that you want to be better at work, better in sports, or better for your family. Now at times you can be hindered in any of these areas due to headaches, back pain, lack of sleep, digestive problems and the list goes on. A lot of people believe that it’s just a part of growing older that we naturally start deteriorating as the years go.

In reality, this process only really starts when you don’t maintain your spine or nervous system, eat right and exercise. Gary Player (see “How to Unlearn Bad Habits article”) is a great example of how we can keep our edge with age. He is a man who exercises, eats right, and has a very strong work ethic. He is just one example that proves that our choices make a difference in our lives.

Maintaing Your Body Like Your Car

I like to use this example about your body being a car…You purchase a brand new car and you just begin driving it around for a little while. All of a sudden the warning light illuminates on the dashboard, What do you do??? Well, some people will see the light and take it in immediately to get fixed. But, most people will think “my car is working fine…. its probably nothing” and will keep driving until it suddenly breaks down.

This same example can be applied to your body. We get a warning sign like a headache, back pain, digestive problems. A lot of us will just think it’s just a part of growing older, which is not the case. This is a clear indication that your body is in a state of dysfunction and needs to be addressed. If you keep the spine and nervous system maintained like the car owner who visits the mechanic regularly, your body will run more efficiently for a longer period of time.

Living Unhindered

I can’t even begin to describe to you how many people are no longer hindered by pain because of their choice to get adjusted regularly. These people are able to play with their kids or play in their sports without being worried about hurting themselves. Beyond getting your spine checked, it’s also very important to eat right and exercise. Why would you not want to live a life without pain, discomfort or dysfunction? There are a lot of benefits to getting Chiropractic care and getting adjusted on a regular basis.

We strongly advise that you lookup chiropractors in your area to get a consultation if you aren’t already seeing one. Your body is your temple, we all need to begin treating it as such so we can keep our edge.
