We hope everyone had a great holiday, but unfortunately, it is time to get back to the real world and all of the fun that comes with it. One of the best ways to do that is by re-establishing a routine. The beginning of the year is a great time to figure out a routine that works for you and implement it. The reasons for creating a routine vary, but they all lead to the same ending: increased mental and physical health.
A consistent routine creates stability in your life, which can help manage stress and anxiety. It lets your body and mind know what to expect, leading to better focus and increased productivity. With a routine, activities like going to bed on time, eating healthy, making it to the gym, and meditating are all pre-built into your day. You don’t have to worry about when things are going to happen because they are now a part of your routine, and you can lean on that to stay consistent. This consistency will continue promoting healthy habits, leading to increased overall health.
When your routine is in check and firing on all cylinders, a new benefit is that you can find free time for new activities. Because you have automated the necessary things in your life, you can now fill the gaps within your day with new and enjoyable activities. If you have wanted to get into reading or start playing online chess, or if it’s something massive like starting a new small business, you now have an increase in the amount of free time you have to focus on those things because all of your necessary activities are already planned.
A routine is not meant to help you go into autopilot and coast through your day. A routine is intended to help solidify and organize the essential things in your life so you can open yourself up to starting something new.
