Natural Sleep Aids
Now that we have entered fall and the weather is changing, let’s piggyback off of our last few newsletters pertaining to your immune system and talk about sleep. Sleep is a favorite topic among a lot of our patients. Kids get a lot of it, and adults don’t, but either way, sleep is vital to the health and well-being of everyone. Most of you know that chiropractic helps with sleep. We have most likely drilled that into your heads by now, but today, we would like to provide you with some natural sleep tips to help you get a restful and rejuvenating night of sleep.
1. Put the phone down – limiting screen time helps the nervous system begin to relax. Looking at screens for too long will keep you in a heightened state of awareness and make it difficult to feel tired.
2. Create a consistent sleep and wake schedule – your body has an internal clock that will understand when you wake up and go to bed if you are consistent with it. This will ensure that you are tired at the same time and night and wake up around the same time every morning feeling rested.
3. Tart Cherry Juice – tart cherry juice is a natural anti-inflammatory, but it also has great effects on sleep. Drink 1/3 cup straight or mix it with seltzer water!
4. Get adjusted – this speaks for itself, but a regulated nervous system helps the body function properly meaning you will sleep like you are meant to sleep!
These are just a few quick tips to help improve your sleep as we move into the fall. Sleep is vital to your health, and we want you to sleep the best you can. As always, if you have any questions, please ask one of the staff the next time you’re in the office!
