Sleep Better. Test Better.
Students, you’ve made it through your first couple of weeks of school, which unfortunately means you are getting close to your first test. Bummer, but you’re ready.
One of the most important things you can do as you’re studying for tests is move your memories from short-term to long-term. This means you have locked in that knowledge, and you’ll be able to recall it later. Your short-term memories move to long-term during…… that’s right, sleep. So, for those of you who cram the night before, you might be able to recite the information the next day, but when finals come around, it’ll be hard to remember what you learned a couple of months ago. Here are some tips to make sure you can get a great night sleep before the big test!
1. Setting a proper sleep schedule that you can follow religiously is essential. It helps keep your sleep/wake cycle consistent, which helps your body understand bedtime. You’ll also notice it’s easier to wake up in the morning.
2. Put the phones down before bed. While studying, phones can be a distraction; they also trick the brain and make it challenging to feel tired, hindering your ability to fall asleep.
3. Getting an adjustment helps calm the nervous system. So, if you usually get stressed or anxious, now, when you get adjusted, your body will be able to adapt and overcome those stresses better. Cervical adjustments also help the body relax so sleep becomes more effortless.
These are just a few quick tips to help make your study session more efficient and long lasting. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask the next time you’re in the office.

Most of the people I used to play basketball with in my 30s and 40s can’t do those things anymore. They wake up stiff. They […]
Why I Predict Sleep Improvements Before They Happen They came in for migraines. Or low back pain. Or sciatica. I tell them their sleep is going to improve in the first week, sometimes within days. They nod politely, maybe a little skeptical, because that’s not why they’re here. Then it happens exactly like I said […]
