Avoiding Summertime Slip-Ups
School is out, grills are cleaned, and the weather is hot, summertime is officially here. Everyone loves summer, the days are long and you get to spend more time with family and friends. However, this is also the time when it’s easy to fall out of rhythm with your everyday routine, which can lead to issues that will bring you in to see us at McKinley Family Chiropractic. So to help you out here are some recommendations to keep you functioning at your best.
Hydrate – this is number one because most of us are poor at hydrating when it isn’t 95 degrees outside. As the weather gets warmer, you need to make sure you are increasing your water intake, especially if you’re outside. Dehydration happens quickly when you are sweating a lot.
Try to stay in a routine – it’s really easy to lose your routine with the kids home, camps going, and days being longer. Keeping a consistent routine, however, will ensure you can complete all your tasks and your body can continue to adapt to your day with no surprises.
There is no summer break from exercise and diet – We talk about avoiding what we call “summer brain” in the office, meaning you realize it’s summer and you can slack a little bit now. If you have worked really hard to stay strict with exercise and diet this is the time to show it off, but that doesn’t mean you should stop because it’s summer. Find ways to work out and eat healthy when it comes to crazy schedules and neighborhood BBQs, and it will pay off at the end of the summer.
Get adjusted – Weekly wellness adjustments are key to making sure you can adapt to all the summertime activities and stressors. The AC also feels great in the office!
As always, if you have any questions or want more tips, please feel free to ask one of the staff the next time you’re in for an adjustment!
