The Emotional Car Crash
Most people know chiropractors help with low back pain, headaches, and tightness in the mid back. However, the treatment stretches much further than the musculoskeletal system. Symptoms like anxiety, fatigue, and discomfort caused by thoughts are also treated as chiropractors adjust the spine. This brings us to the idea of the emotional car crash. You’ve most likely heard one of the doctors mention it in the office. We consider this any moment in someone’s life that affects mental well-being instead of a moment that affects their physical well-being. A death in the family, a friend in the hospital, or getting fired from your job are all examples of emotional car crashes. These are occasions that may also throw the nervous system in disarray.
Chiropractors are physicians who care for the nervous system. The main goal of an adjustment is to help an individual return to homeostasis. The Oxford Dictionary defines homeostasis as “the tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes.” In simpler terms, homeostasis is where the body can adapt and heal at the highest level. When an individual is well adjusted, they can manage and handle a spectrum of issues, including insults to the body and mind.
So, if you have experienced a hard moment recently, you’re feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or just run down, head into the office for an adjustment. You will be greeted by our caring staff, who are always ready to take care of you. Community is important for those struggling through hard times, and you will find that by the bucket full at McKinley Family Chiropractic.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask one of the doctors at your next appointment!
