Consistency is Key

Brushing your teeth, working out, eating healthy, and going to bed early are all things that require consistency to work. Have you ever met anyone who was surprised that they didn’t have six-pack abs after going to the gym every other week? Probably not. We have all learned that things like that take time and commitment to be effective.

Chiropractic care is no different. When a patient first joins us at McKinley Family Chiropractic, their care plan is laid out step by step for multiple weeks. They are also told a frequency that is specific to their condition, which they need to follow to achieve their desired outcome. Without the consistency of that care plan, the patient may never notice a difference in their overall health. Chiropractic care requires repetition. At the beginning of your care plan, receiving consistent adjustments helps the brain and body to recalibrate and adapt to the new movement in the spine that allows for improved nerve flow. Dr. Matt likes to say, “We’re chipping the rocks off of your back,” and he’s right. Most of our patients have been in pain for years. Their bodies are so used to the pain that they have found a way to stagger through life and get by. So if we adjust them once in the first week and then we don’t see them again for a week and a half, we might as well have not adjusted them in the first place. Time under tension provides results. Sticking to the care plan is the fastest way to live the life you want to live.

Once you have finished your care plan and are feeling better, consistency is still important. Routine wellness care is vital to maintaining your health and wellness. As soon as your teeth are white after brushing them two times a day, you don’t stop brushing them, do you? Luckily, chiropractic doesn’t require two adjustments a day. All we ask is just one adjustment a week.

Consistency is key to your overall health and wellness. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask one of the doctors the next time you’re in the office.
