Everyone has probably experienced some form of dizziness in their life. Maybe you’re playing on a playground or going to an amusement park. You may get slightly dizzy when you go from lying down to standing too fast or turning around quickly. In some form or another, most people know what it feels like to be dizzy. What some people don’t know is that prolonged dizziness in not normal. Everyday dizziness that lingers or happens consistently isn’t supposed to be a part of your daily life. Here’s the good news: chiropractic care has amazing success in treating dizziness.

There are two common causes of generic dizziness. The first deals with proprioception; this is your body’s ability to understand where it is in space. All of your joints and muscles have proprioceptors that feed information back to the brain, helping it understand its position. In the neck, if the brain believes you are turning your head a certain amount and then the joint doesn’t allow that amount of motion, the brain will get confused, and you will feel dizzy. Chiropractic care has a 95% success rate with this form of dizziness.

The second cause happens within your ear. In everyone’s ear, there is something called your vestibular system. Your vestibular system acts as an accelerometer for your body, determining how fast you are moving. It is filled with fluid and crystals that remind some people of a snow globe. When you are moving quickly and stop suddenly, the crystals take time to settle. When you aren’t moving, but the crystals are, this can give you the feeling of dizziness. Chiropractic care paired with specific movement exercises is 90% effective when treating this form of dizziness.
