I know we can’t wait for the warm weather to come, but there are always a few things we still need to look out for before that happens. One very important thing to watch out for is ice on the sidewalks. According to the developer of Chiropractic, BJ Palmer, a clumsy slip on the sidewalk may seem like a small thing but the cascade of events that follow could potentially lead to bigger problems down the road.
When you slip, not only does it feel uncomfortable but, no matter how insignificant it may seem, it creates an unexpected jar to the spine. When this occurs the vertebrae become misaligned or subluxated and in turn puts pressure on the nerves. The tissues then become starved of instruction and malfunction follows which can lead to sickness and potential lost. All this from an inconsequential, embarrassing moment in time, unless remedied soon after the the event.
It’s very important for you to get your spine checked once this has happened. You might need to get adjusted to take the pressure off the nerves so that your body can work and function at its optimum level. So if you or someone that you know has had a slip on the ice, make sure your spine is checked so that we can get you ready for the warm weather to come.
