Times have definitely changed for the better. A few days ago, I had a construction guy/contractor come in with symptoms of anxiety and insomnia. What makes this worth the post, is that I’ve been seeing a wonderful trend with men seeking out natural healthcare as their first option.
Even just a few years ago, we would have never seen men, especially stereotypical tough guys who work construction, come in for help with anxiety and insomnia. So, asking for help from a natural approach has been a very positive trend we’ve seen as of late.
This particular 35 year old male had recently visited his internist and had been prescribed an anti-anxiety brand medicine to help him sleep. Once the doctor told him to stop if he feels signs of aggression, he decided this was not a safe first option. Now, to us natural minded folk, this may seem obvious. However, many do not catch on to this as quick as you’d think. When people have these symptoms, these drugs are prescribed very quickly without much natural advice or referral.
I am so very pleased to see more and more men use chiropractic care, yoga, acupuncture, etc. as a real and effective first choice. That these men are realizing that it’s not just something for soccer moms who have extra time on their hands (actually, soccer moms don’t have extra time on their hands, but you get my point :)……Men are getting that they need to take their health serious, and these problems don’t always need RX meds first. Especially non-emergency issues, like anxiety and insomnia, that are lifestyle related and can be fixed through natural healthcare! Good job my fellow men! You are finally coming of age!
If you know a “tough guy” who suffers from anxiety or insomnia, send them our way :)
